The Toledo Legal Aid Society, through the Lucas County Public Defender’s Office, is searching for an experienced, compassionate leader with an unwavering commitment to equal access to justice.
Responsible to the Board of Trustees, the Chief Public Defender oversees a county-wide legal program that provides quality, professional and effective representation to indigent adults and juveniles accused of a crime. Some of the responsibilities include: establish short term and long range plans, goals and objectives; budget preparation and fiscal oversight; initiate funding proposals for review; effectively manage, evaluate and administratively supervise the public defender program and support staff, the Deputy Public Defender, Supervising Attorneys, and staff attorneys.
Qualifications include: a full-time qualified attorney, licensed to practice law in Ohio (or qualified to immediately become licensed in Ohio); be in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court (or the highest court in the applicant’s current state of residency); six years prior legal experience, preferably with criminal representation (with emphasis in felony/misdemeanor); considerable knowledge of the legislative processes that affect criminal and juvenile law, and those affecting public defense agencies in Ohio. Applicants must also have experience in planning, budgeting, management, and serving and coordinating with a Board of Directors; as well as being a supervisor, manager, mentor and visible leader focused on building and maintaining effective working relationships with the people and organizations in the legal system to advance the mission of the Toledo Legal Aid Society.

Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor is accepting applications for the position of Judicial Attorney in her chambers. The position requires a two-year commitment.
Judicial Attorneys review and research a variety of motions and memoranda in support of discretionary jurisdiction and analyze the claims presented in those pleadings. In addition, Judicial Attorneys research and draft merit opinions at the direction of the Justice.
The successful applicant will be a licensed attorney with at least two or more years of experience as an attorney. Prior clerkship experience is strongly preferred. The abilities to work independently, collaboratively, and efficiently are required. Superior research, analytical, and writing abilities are mandatory. All candidates must be admitted to a bar at the time of their application. No exceptions will be made. Applicants will not be considered unless presently admitted to a bar and in good standing.

- CHAPTER 13 STANDING TRUSTEE
APPOINTMENT OF CHAPTER 13 STANDING TRUSTEE
The Office of the United States Trustee is seeking resumes from persons wishing to be considered for appointment as a standing trustee to administer cases filed under chapter 13 of the bankruptcy code. The appointment is for cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Toledo, Ohio. Standing Trustees receive compensation and expenses pursuant to 28 U.S.c. §586. Compensation depends on disbursements. Maximum compensation including benefits is now $198,867 annually. In addition, the trustee operation receives payments for certain necessary and actual expenses.
The minimum qualifications for appointment are set forth in Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations at Part 58. To be eligible for appointment, an applicant must possess strong administrative, financial and interpersonal skills. Experience and/or training in management is desirable. Fiduciary experience or familiarity with the bankruptcy area is not mandatory.
A successful applicant will be required to undergo a background check, and must qualify to be bonded. Although standing trustees are not federal employees, appointments are made consistent with federal Equal Opportunity policies, which prohibit discrimination in employment.
