Notary Public: Information on renewing a Notary Commission
Applicant for renewing a Notary commission must:
- be a Lucas county resident.
- be at least 18 years old.
- present a valid Driver's License or state I.D.
- pay a $70.00 application fee cash or check. (We do not accept credit cards.)
A Notary may start the renewal process 60 days prior to the expiration. The renewal process takes four to six weeks before Columbus will issue the new commission.
Before a Notary who has applied for renewal may notarize documents with the new commission date, the commission must be recorded at the Lucas County Courthouse.
